Unfourtunatly so far Microformats are not really usefull on a grand scale, and I think that it will not be for several years to come (I might regret saying so). There are a lot of things that need to come together for Microformats to become mainstream – massive support by the big ones (Google, IBM, Yahoo), high profile innovative uses of Microformats (my bet is on a startup or on Google) as well as that the Microformats themselves mature quite a bit. If this ever happens I do think that Microformats will replace some Web Scraping and make data interchange and interoperability much easier. But Microformats are never going to replace Web Scraping completely. For a forseeable future the major part of web sites (both on the internet and especially inside company firewalls) will not have Microformats of any kind.

Now, what is your experience using Microformats, and do you think the adoption of Microformats will be widespread to the point of impacting the way web scrapping is actually being done?
